As I started to think about what to write in this blog I found myself somewhat confused on what I was going to say given the fact that everything that has gone on as just sped past me. Yet, here I am with a blog assignment to reflect on what I have learned and experienced thus far this semester. I guess now is a good time as any to sort out what exactly I have learned in the past month, and how its brought me to the point that I am at today.
I feel like by now I really have the swing of this whole school thing. I go to class Monday through Thursday, enjoy myself on the weekend and go back to school on Monday to begin it all again. Between work and homework, tests, projects, and my social life I barely have time to stop and evaluate what I'm even doing. I am a Speech Language Pathology major and this semester is the first time I get to work hands on with a client. It has honestly been such a great experience so far. Every time I go to clinic I am reassured that I am doing what I want to be doing with my life. I think What gets difficult is when I have to go to other classes that don't really interest me in the way that I am with my major. However this semester has proven to be a little different. I really do enjoy most if not all of my classes, where in the past I have had some classes where I would rather be getting my teeth pulled then go to. I think that this Lit and Civ class in particular is an example of one of those classes that surprised me. By the nature of the title "Literature and Civilizations II" I thought this was going to be a very structured lecture based class. I was very wrong. This class has been such a change of pace to my other classes and I can say that I truly enjoy the switch up. It gets tedious to listen to professors talk all day even though what they are saying is important. I really enjoy the different learning methods used in this class such a videos, presentations, group activities, and active participation. I never once guessed that in this class we were going to be discussing humor. Honestly I never even thought of humor as something to be learned about. I just figured you laugh when something is funny and thats that. Now that I've been challenged about that thought, my whole perspective has changed. I am looking forward to seeing how this class continues to progress throughout the semester and how my understanding of humor will further develop.
